Milan looks good

A short drive out of Milan are the Lakes. Belaggio is on Lake Como, where Franz Liszt lived. Pliny the Younger and Virgil lived here as well in Roman times and called it the most beautiful place in the world. From the hills above you can see the Matterhorn. Lake Lugano overlaps into Switzerland. Lake Maggiore is surrounded by ancient towers and castles. Lakes Iseo, Idro and Orta are described as well. Milan Cathedral is the largest in Europe after St. Peters - 450 ft long - and La Scala opera house is here as well, where many of the world's greatest operas were first performed and still are today. Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper is in Milan, along with medieval palace museums filled with art by Michelangelo, Raphael, Caravaggio, Piero della Francesca and other great artists. Historic towns in the shadow of the Alps here include Cremona, where Stradivarius, the violin-maker worked for 70 years, Brescia, Mantua, Pavia, Locarno - almost all retaining their medieval central sections.

Sterne takes title in playoffs

The South African, who trailed overnight leader Mark Murless by four shots at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club, carded an impressive six-under-par 65 to finish level with Mulroy and Carlsson on 13 under. All three players birdied the first play-off hole but world number 44 Sterne then repeated the feat on the par-four 17th while compatriot Mulroy and Swede Carlsson could only manage pars. Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke also finished strongly with a three-under-par.Sterne's victory was his third European Tour title following wins at the Madrid Open in 2004 and last year's Wales Open at Celtic Manor. "It was actually quite enjoyable to be honest," said Sterne. "After the start I was quite far back and I knew I needed to get to 13 or 14 under." "I got close when I hit a couple great shots into the last. I thought 13 under was a good number and then I got close - I got 13 under in the end." "It was a tough day," he said. Any time you're favourite to win or anything like that, I think it's a little bit more pressure.

Rugby England: Cipriani eager to oust Wilko

Cipriani is seen by many as the man to do it. Wales coach Warren Gatland recently predicted the 20-year-old could even become a bigger superstar than Wilkinson.Cipriani allows none of that hype to faze him and is instead determined to learn all he can from Wilkinson - but also put the pressure on."It is obviously going to be a massive task to oust Jonny, he has done everything in the game but I am not coming here as number two," said Cipriani. "It is understandable that whenever Jonny has been fit he has started for England because he has done an amazing job. "Jonny has changed the face of rugby by himself. If I can learn from Jonny that will help me. "I will give it my best shot to improve. I need to make sure there are no doubts about me as a player. "If I was to have a chance to start a game I would do that to the best of my ability. "It is great to hear people like Warren say things like that - but in my eyes I haven't made it yet. I want to get an England cap and then one day be a regular starter."Wilkinson, who today signed a new two-year contract at Newcastle, was only 18 when Clive Woodward gave him his England debut in 1998. Cipriani is 20 but has been long tipped as an England international and, at Wasps, has been learning at the top end of European rugby. Last season, he started at full-back in the Heineken Cup final and only missed out on the World Cup squad, and achieving that long-held ambition, when the final cut was made.

There may be a counter, self-service where one pays at the counter, and/or coin-operated machines. Sometimes the area of sale is more like a self-service shop than a lobby (it is not suitable for consuming the goods), and one pays at the check-out between the shop and the area with the screens.

The facilities for buying snacks and drinks often represent the theater's primary source of profit since most of the ticket revenue goes to the film distributor (and onward to the movie studio). Some movie theaters forbid eating and drinking inside the viewing room (restricting such activities to the lobby), while others encourage it by fitting cup holders on the arm rests (on the front side of the arm rests of one's own chair, or the back side of the arm rests in front) and selling large portions of popcorn; also in that case bringing one's own food and drinks may be forbidden. Concessions is currently a huge area of expansion with many companies in the U.S. offering a wider range of snacks, including hot dogs and nachos. The noise of people eating, including the opening of wrappers, is frowned upon by some moviegoers.

Britney in trouble

american Idol judge Simon Cowell believes that the troubled pop star Britney Spears knows exactly what she is doing even though everyone thinks she is unstable.Pagesix.com reports him saying: "Everyone thinks it's breakdown this and breakdown that. From the kind of stunts she's pulling now, I think she is the puppet master and completely in control." He believes initially she was a victim of being in the press too much but she is now manipulating the whole show. He added: "I really felt for her at one point, I thought she was heading for a meltdown and everything was out of control, but, especially over the past week, I thought she was honestly in control and, more to the point, wants to be in control.

global warming a serious issue

Global warming is becoming a burden for many countries. They dont know how to control it.Global warming is issue that's ripe with lies and distortion. How many times have you heard that carbon dioxide is responsible for huge natural disasters that have killed millions of people? The truth is, it's actually the other way around: as CO2 has increased, deaths from extreme weather have decreased. Bet you'll never see that in an Al Gore slide show.It contains hundreds of these same how political correctness, special interests, and outright stupidity have gotten us so far away from the commonsense solutions this country was built on.But none can find a proper solution to the global warming.

Great disease

Brain dead are the source of the organs without which transplants could not take place. In this compelling and provocative examination, Margaret Lock traces the discourse over the past thirty years that contributed to the locating of a new criterion of death in the brain, and its routinization in clinical practice in North America. She compares this situation with that in Japan where, despite the availability of the necessary technology and expertise, brain death was legally recognized only in 1997, and then under limited and contested circumstances. Twice Dead explores the cultural, historical, political, and clinical reasons for the ready acceptance of the new criterion of death in North America and its rejection, until recently, in Japan, with the result that organ transplantation has been severely restricted in that country

Great history

During the late sixties he played as a guest with Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan, as well as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and longtime friend George Harrison. It was while working with the latter that he fell for George’s wife, Pattie Boyd, a seemingly unrequited love that led him to the depths of despair, self-imposed seclusion, and drug addiction. the touching love song to Pattie, whom he finally married at the end of 1979. A short time later, however, Eric had replaced heroin with alcohol as his preferred vice, following a pattern of behavior that not only was detrimental to his music but contributed to the eventual breakup of his marriage. In the eighties he would battle and begin his recovery from alcoholism and become a father. But just as his life was coming together, he was struck by a terrible blow: His beloved four-year-old son, Conor, died in a freak accident. At an earlier time Eric might have coped with this tragedy by fleeing into a world of addiction.

Importance of taking risk

risk has slowly permeated into all engineering applications so that risk analysis and management has gained a relevant role, both as a tool in support of plant design and as an indispensable means for emergency planning in accidental situations. This entails the acquisition of appropriate reliability modeling and risk analysis tools to complement the basic and specific engineering knowledge for the technological area of application. aimed at providing an organic view of the subject, this book provides an introduction to the principal concepts and issues related to the safety of modern industrial activities. It also illustrates the classical techniques for reliability analysis and risk assessment used in current practice.

: Krige blasts de Villiers appointment

For me there was only one logical choice to succeed Jake White as Springbok coach and that was Heyneke Meyer. "Let me put it this way: Coach A and coach B are up for a position. Coach A has won internationally at Under-21 level, but has no Currie Cup or Super 14 experience. He currently is helping out at Stellenbosch University. "Coach B has three Currie Cup titles and a Super 14 title. Above this, 70% of the players in the country want him as coach. If you need to make a rugby decision, then it is logical that coach B is the answer. "But if you need to make a political choice, then coach A is the answer. Coach A is Peter De Villiers and B Heyneke Meyer - this is precisely what happened this week." he placed the blame at the door of SA Rugby's deputy president Mike Stofile - who is also brother of sports minister Makenkhezi Stofile and has been pushing transformation for some time. "Now that I think about it, I don't know why I expected anything different," Krige continued. "With Mike Stofile as chairman of the committee, it was certain that nobody who would stand up to him would be appointed.

Clemens will testify

Ward also suggested that if Clemens were to contradict McNamee's testimony, he would likely be indicted for lying under oath. "If (Clemens' attorney Rusty Hardin) allows his client to go before Congress and testify under oath, I don't think we'll be talking about Roger Clemens being inducted (into the Hall of Fame), I think we'll be talking about Roger Clemens being indicted," Ward told ESPN. Despite Ward's claims, Hardin said Clemens has every intention of going before Congress. "I want to make very clear that there has been absolutely no change in Roger's willingness and indeed desire to testify under oath before Congress in a public hearing at a date of the Oversight Committee's choosing," Hardin said. "Any suggestion that he or we are having any second thoughts about that is absolutely false."

New revolution in idea

One of the key advocates of the health benefits of cleansing detoxes is Roni DeLuz, ND, a licensed naturopathic and health practitioner at Martha's Vineyard Holistic Retreat, part of the renowned Martha's Vineyard Inn. The idea behind DeLuz's new detox plan is the belief that the foods we eat (along with the coffee, tea, and alcohol we drink and the air we breathe) contain harmful and toxic substances that accumulate in our bodies and need to be removed in some way. In 21 Pounds in 21 Days, DeLuz offers three different detox programs, including the original and most effective 21–day ''MasterFast,'' which promises a 21–pound weight loss in just three weeks and focuses on detoxification through antioxidants, fasting, stress reduction, and lifestyle changes. Also included in the book are:. Maintenance plans. Dozens of easy, delicious recipes . Real–life tips . An extensive glossary of terms. A guide to supplements

New Diet procedures

There is no known cure-and even recent breakthroughs in drug therapy do not work to control many of the symptoms or promise any degree of recovery. But there is an alternative to drugs that can stop and reverse the ravaging symptoms of MS-the MS Recovery Diet. As this book explains, there are five common food triggers that can set off the symptoms of MS-dairy, grains containing glutens, legumes, eggs, and yeast. Yet because MS is such a complex disease, other foods play a role, as culprits or aides. The MS Recovery Diet explains the background, science, and development of this treatment in one source for the first time, and shows readers how to pinpoint their specific problem foods and sensitivities. It also offers more than one hundred simple recipes, as well as strategies to improve digestion, balance the immune system, and repair the body's myelin-crucial steps toward healing the body. Both of the authors, Ann D. Sawyer and Judith E. Bachrach, who had been diagnosed and disabled by multiple sclerosis, have experienced incredible recovery on the diet.

theory of body and mind

The body is the most fascinating machine ever created, and nobody talks about it in ways that are as illuminating and compelling as Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz. Most people think of the aging of our bodies the same way we think of the aging of our cars: the older we get, the more inevitable it is that we're going to break down. Most of us believe that at age 40 or so, we begin the slow and steady decline of our minds, our eyes, our ears, our joints, our arteries, our libido, and every other system that affects the quality of life .

Nuclear problem

The women sought to bring the issue of the threat of Trident’s nuclear weapons before the Supreme Court in the land where the thermonuclear submarine fleet is kept.the disarmament action by those three women, who, on 8 June 1999, got closer than any ordinary citizen has ever been to halting the threat of nuclear war. When they met them in Cornton Vale jail they admitted doing the things on the indictment (or charge sheet) but were emphatic that they wanted to plead not guilty. The defence case was to be that in disarming a United Kingdom Ministry of Defence floating computer facility they were not engaged in a criminal act but rather in an act of crime prevention, that is, preventing the United Kingdom from continuing to threaten various nations of the world with use of its Trident 2 thermonuclear weapons fleet, an act that they regard as a modern form of totalitarianism, which could easily lead to global catastrophe. On 8 July 1996 the International Court of Justice (the World Court) in The Hague had issued an ‘Advisory Opinion’ to the United Nations General Assembly saying unanimously that to threaten the use of thermonuclear warheads was illegal under international humanitarian law

George W. Bush saying

As the end of the Bush era approaches, the legacy is clear: George W. Bush is a wartime president. His enemy, battered but not defeated after repeated surges: the English language. The ultimate edition of George W. Bushisms captures this legacy -- from the Gulf Coast to Iraq and back -- with all-new pearls of wisdom and the twenty-five greatest hits of the entire presidency."You know, when I campaigned here in 2000, I said, I want to be a war president. No president wants to be a war president, but I am one."

next generation plants

The early twentieth century, an exotic plague swept through the chestnut forests with the force of a wildfire. Within forty years, the blight had killed close to four billion trees and left the species teetering on the brink of extinction. It was one of the worst ecological blows to North America since the Ice Age - and one most experts considered beyond repair. Susan Freinkel tells the dramatic story of the stubborn optimists who refused to let this cultural icon go. In a compelling weave of history, science, and personal observation, she relates their quest to save the tree through methods that ranged from classical plant breeding to cutting-edge gene technology. But the heart of her story is the cast of unconventional characters who have fought for the tree for a century, undeterred by setbacks or skeptics

Problem of ageing

Aging isn't a decline in our systems. It's actually very purposeful. The very systems and biological processes that age us are designed to help us when we're a little bit younger. So what's our role as part of the aging population? To learn how those systems work so we can reprogram them to work the way they did when we were younger. Your goal should be: die young at any age. That means everyone live a high quality of life (with everything from working joints to working genitals) until the day you die.
