CSA became embroiled in a race row ahead of the tour when president Norman Arendse twice rejected coach Mickey Arthur's 14-man squad as the list did not contain at least seven players of colour.
In the ensuing controversy Arthur was removed from the Proteas three-man selection panel before being re-instated.
Arendse and CSA chief executive Gerald Majola then issued a statement of apology where they assumed "full responsibility for not handling the issue in a manner that preserves the integrity and reputation of the sport".
And despite voicing their concern at the manner in which the matter was handled, the general council (Genco) backed the leadership of CSA in a statement released following a meeting with Arendse and Majola in Johannesburg on Friday.
"Genco expressed its displeasure in the manner in which the recent events had been handled," the statement said.
"The president and the CEO expressed their commitment and made an undertaking to work together for the good of cricket in South Africa and to follow processes laid down by CSA in dealing with such issues.
